According to Moroccan news outlet Le360, the Moroccan government was considering reopening the country’s borders as officials monitored the progression of the Omicron wave in January 2022.
At the time, Morocco’s air and sea borders were scheduled to remain closed until January 31, following restrictions introduced in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant.

A government source quoted anonymously by Le360 said officials expected the Omicron wave in Morocco to reach its peak in the coming days.

According to Le360, a joint meeting involving Morocco’s ministerial committee and technical and scientific committee was expected to assess the pandemic situation.
