Anti Aging: What Do Hollywood Men Go Through To Look The Way They Do?

Hollywood Men’s Anti-Aging Regimens

Hollywood men are in every girl’s fantasy. Their perfect smile, symmetrical facial features, well-groomed hair, and flawless skin have put all other common men to shame. If you believe that these qualities of Hollywood A-list men are inborn gifts, you are sadly mistaken. These men take long hours of their days to look the way they do. Their grooming requires intricate steps and some serious medical procedures.

Fraxel Laser

Fraxel Laser

It’s a common misconception that only female celebrities go under the knife, but the truth is male celebrities are equally prone to undergo surgical procedures to enhance their looks, especially during awards season such as the recent Oscar ceremony, where the eyes of the whole world are upon them.

Non-invasive cosmetic procedures

With the advent of newer technologies to enhance beauty, going under the knife may soon become a thing of the past. More and more celebrities are opting for non-surgical yet equally effective cosmetic procedures. The older painful surgical facelift procedures are quickly being replaced by non-invasive procedures such as CO2 fractional lasers, RF micro-needling, and vampire facials.

CO2 Fractional laser:

The laser uses fractional CO2 energy beams to penetrate the skin with holes. This fractionated technology leaves normal skin in between the injured skin cells thus allowing the skin to heal more quickly with lesser downtime. It is a highly effective procedure for improving the appearance of wrinkles and scars by stimulating collagen growth.

RF micro-needling

This procedure uses tiny needles of 0.25 to 3.0 mm lengths to rapidly penetrate the skin making minute puncture wounds all over the face. In addition to the needles, Radiofrequency beams are also sent under the skin in a longitudinal manner to stimulate collagen growth.

Vampire Facials

A Vampire facial is a cosmetic and aesthetic procedure, which uses blood drawn from the patient’s own body. The blood is then centrifuged in a centrifugal machine to concentrate platelet-rich plasma. Platelet-rich plasma is essential for normal healing processes as it is rich in growth factors. The procedure combines micro-needles with Platelet-rich protein (PRP) to provide the full benefits of PRP by ensuring full penetration of PRP.

“Seasoned actors learn early on the values of preservation,” says New York Dermatology Group’s David Colbert, who has a star-laden patient roster. Beverly Hills dermatologist Harold Lancer (Oscar nominee Margot Robbie is a patient) adds that men have incorporated self-care as much as women have. “In general, men are far more open or receptive to advise than they used to be”, he says. “That’s a big change.”

Many high-profile Hollywood men use Babytox to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and forehead lines by 20%. One ml of Babytox costs a whopping $450. They prefer to use Babytox over conventional botox to avoid the Nicole Kidman- type look. In addition to this, Lance also employs fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm to increase cheek volumes. Many of his clients also opt for Ultherapy ultrasound to create a refined strong jawline.

Male stars with skin damaged from prolonged sleep deprivation, sunburns, and aging are increasingly turning to topical glutathione. Sara Whitney, a naturopathic doctor practicing at the Roxbury Institute in Beverly Hills said: “After a series of treatments, men can see skin that’s one to three shades lighter, almost full elimination of their dark circles and a brighter, more even skin tone and complexion.”

Hormone Injections: HGH and Testosterone

In addition to fillers and lasers, Male stars are also using hormone replacement therapy to lose fat, reduce wrinkles and increase muscle mass. Liam Hemsworth’s concierge doctor, Ehsan Ali says, “Testosterone and human growth hormone injections are currently enjoying a surge in popularity, with actors and models starting testosterone injection regimens in their early 40s to lose fat, lessen wrinkles, and increase lean muscle mass.”

However, Lancer disclaims this practice, saying, “There has to be a damn good, medically-motivated reason, because patients become physiologically dependent, and also suffer enlarged pores and oilier skin.”

Oliver Stone, Nick Nolte, Sylvester Stallone, and Facebook board member, billionaire Peter Thiel, have all been allegedly dabbling in these controversial HGH injections.
“The results are tremendous,” says Ali, who has noticed a surge in weekly HGH injections among Hollywood men. According to Ali, both testosterone and HGH are safe as long as blood work is monitored and a doctor approves doses.
