Morocco Travel: Travelers from B List Countries Might Be Allowed to Do the 10 Day Quarantine at Home

Good news for travelers from B-list countries (high-risk countries). The Moroccan Scientific and Technical Committee has come out in favor of eliminating the requirement of doing the 10-day quarantine in a guarded hotel and replacing it with home isolation instead, reports a source on the committee who prefers to remain anonymous.

If the government takes this recommendation into account, travelers from countries in List B will be able to return to Morocco in large numbers.

Thousands of Moroccans living abroad, in France, Spain, and Portugal, have already started to cancel their plane tickets after learning of the government’s decision to place their respective countries on the B list.

Because of the worsening Covid-19 situation in Spain France and Portugal, the inter-ministerial monitoring committee announced on Sunday that all of the 3 countries have been added to the B list (high-risk countries). Countries such as Tunisia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India and Russia have already been added to this list last week.

As a reminder travelers from countries in the, A list (low-risk countries)must now present a PCR test that was taken less than 72 hours instead of the previous more severe requirement of 48 hours.

For their part, travelers coming from list B countries have to present a negative PCR test of fewer than 48 hours, the same source stressed, noting that travelers from countries in the B list fall into 2 categories:

  • Holders of a certificate proving that the person has been vaccinated with one of the vaccines accepted in Morocco are exempted from the 10-day quarantine.
  • Unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated persons from list B countries must remain in a controlled quarantine at their own expense for 10 days in hotels approved by the Moroccan authorities, with a PCR control test on the 9th day.

These conditions will enter into force on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 23:59 pm.
