Flights to and from Morocco Will Still Be Suspended until December 31

December 9th: The suspension of flights to and from Morocco, which was in effect since November 29 and until December 13, has been extended until the end of the year, that is, until December 31 (at 11:59 pm). This was just announced by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) on its official Twitter account, saying it was based on information from Morocco’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

Shortly before RAM’s announcement, the MAP agency, citing sources close to air transport circles, announced this extension, but without giving a date, merely writing “at a later date.” And contrary to RAM’s announcement, which speaks only of its own flights, MAP specifies that it covers all flights to and from Morocco.

The Moroccan concerned authorities had decided to suspend direct passenger flights to Morocco for 14 days from Monday 29 November 2021 at 23:59 due to the spread of the new Omicron variant, particularly in Europe and Africa.

On Thursday 9 December, the government of Morocco announced that it was finalizing a health protocol that would allow the repatriation of Moroccans stranded abroad.

Since the interruption of air connections, dozens of special repatriation flights have been made from Morocco to various countries, mainly Europe.
