Several departments within the hospital help the daily flow of
operation. The support services help take care of our patients in
different capacities.
Food and Nutritional Services
Food and Nutritional Services includes patient food services, cafeteria,
catering and Medical Nutrition Therapy. Food Services Food Services
are provided to inpatients and outpatients, as appropriate, from
pediatrics to geriatrics. This includes the following: three
well-balanced meals a day plus nourishments for patients, a cafeteria
serving a full breakfast and lunch and a limited dinner to personnel and
guests of the hospital, guest/parent meals served to patient rooms,
meals or refreshments for meetings and other special functions and
carry-out food or meals.
Our tray delivery staff have daily contact
with patients while passing out meal trays. During these interactive
times, patients can discuss their preferences and any concerns or
questions they may have about their care. If FNS staff is unable to
assist, the concern or question is forwarded to the appropriate
professional.
Special requests are honored as they are appropriate to
the diet order, as are religious and cultural preferences.
HEALTH INFORMATION SERVICES
Health Information Services hours of operation are Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office’s main number is
662-256-6213.
The following services are provided by Health Information Services:
- Maintain discharged inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Room, and outpatient surgery records in a centralized location.
- Provide copies of patient records to patients, other health
institutions, and physicians for continuity of care; insurance companies
for payment of bill; and other entities as requested by the patient.
- Assign codes to diagnoses which are utilized for billing purposes, research, and statistics.
- Complete birth certificates and submitting to the Mississippi State Board of Health.
- Complete death certificates and submitting to the appropriate funeral home.
Patients requesting a copy of his/her medical
records should dial 662-256-6213. The name, date of birth, social security number, contact number and date
needed are required when requesting records. The
patient must provide photo ID and
sign an authorization form before the records will be released.

Medical Nutrition Therapy
A Licensed, Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator is on
staff to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy. This includes inpatient and
outpatient nutrition education, screening/ assessment of inpatients for
nutritional risk factors and providing appropriate nutritional
intervention to assist with healing and recovery. Nutrition information
and education services for the community and civic organizations are
also provided as requested.
Outpatient Nutritional Counseling is an individualized education session
provided by the RD. Our RD will work closely with you to develop a
personalized diet to meet your goals. Medicare covers diabetes diet
education as do many insurance plans. You will need a physician’s
referral for private counseling if you want your insurance to capture
the cost. Common reasons for outpatient medical nutrition therapy or
counseling include diabetes, weight control, high blood pressure, high
cholesterol or triglycerides, kidney disease, and gastrointestinal
problems.
The department operates between the hours of 5AM and 7:30 PM daily.

Pharmacy Department
The Department of Pharmacy strives to provide high quality
pharmaceutical care in order to ensure positive drug therapy outcomes
for our patients. The department consists of pharmacists equipped with
expert knowledge in managing drug therapy working closely with pharmacy
technicians to assure patients receive the best pharmaceutical care
possible.
The pharmacy department at Gilmore is
responsible for dispensing medications daily for the inpatient
population with additional services provided in the outpatient setting.
Pharmacists are available on call 24 hours a day for all patient care
areas. A centralized pharmacy provides a spacious, well-equipped
environment for the performance of pharmaceutical functions which
includes storage, compounding, computer order entry, dispensing,
distribution, and drug information resources. Pharmaceutical care
extends beyond drug procurement and dispensing. Gilmore provides
organized clinical pharmacy services that complement the team
approach to providing care. Many clinical services are provided by the
pharmacy and include renal drug monitoring, drug interaction
monitoring, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug order reviewing, and drug
information support for health care providers.
