Welcome to Amory, Mississippi!

The City of Amory, named after railroad  magnate Harcourt Amory, was established by the K.C.M. & B. Railroad as a halfway point between Memphis, Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama. The town was plotted and the first lots were sold at auction on November 15, 16 and 17, 1887.  Incorporation followed in 1888 and people rushed in to buy property.
